Olsten Staffing is assisting a local client in the Cheraw, South Carolina area to find an experienced and knowledgeable part-time Apprenticeship Trainer with expertise in bearings and mechanical systems to deliver hands-on training to apprentices and early-career technicians.
The trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs that cover bearing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and related mechanical concepts in line with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver structured training sessions to apprentices, focusing on the theory and practical applications of bearings (e.g., roller, ball, tapered, thrust bearings).
Instruct on bearing identification, selection, fitting, lubrication, inspection, fault diagnosis, and replacement.
Develop and update course materials, manuals, and assessments to align with industry best practices and training standards (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Assess apprentices' skills and progress through practical evaluations, exams, and workplace observation.
Ensure training complies with health and safety regulations and promotes safe mechanical practices.
Collaborate with line managers and mentors to support on-the-job learning and workplace integration.
Maintain training records, attendance logs, and assessment documentation.
Provide feedback and support to apprentices to encourage skill development and career growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience in mechanical engineering or industrial maintenance, with a focus on bearings and rotating equipment.
Recognized vocational or technical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering).
A1 Assessor or TAQA qualification (desirable).
Experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring apprentices or trainees (preferred but not essential).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Desirable Skills:
Experience working in manufacturing, rail, aerospace, marine, or heavy machinery sectors.
Knowledge of modern condition monitoring and vibration analysis tools.
Familiarity with apprenticeship frameworks and government-funded training programs.
This position is only 25 – 30 hours per week.

Pay Details: $25.00 per hour
